Travel Diary

DAWSON CITY ( Canada ), Friday 15th February 2008

After an endless car travel of more than 1500 Km. from Fairbanks, to Paxson and then Whitehorse ... yesterday we arrived in the late afternoon in Dawson City on the Yukon River, where all the teams must stop for a mandatory layover of 36 hours.

Luckily it' s far less cold than the first days in Alaska and this is a very good help both for the dogs and the mushers in order to proceed in this race that never before has been so hard due to the arctic temperatures in the beginning and for tha amazing jumble ice on the river Yukon with ridges reaching even 3 meters of height !

Marco is not feeling well due to a strong cold ... while the dogs are absolutely very alive and ready to keep on going !Today we will travel varoius sections on the River Yukon and document so this incredible challenge of the Yukon Passage 2008 ! A hug from the .. always yours.
